I would like to have the mass of the part displayed in the drawing header automatically inserted/updated.
Does the mass have a ´variable name´ I can use as a linked annotation, or is it calculated every time you ask for it?
(still running SW2K - no chance to download from Solidcorps home, as we don't have a service contract). Morten K. Thillemann

Hi MortenDK

In the File Properties, Custom you need to add a new field
"MASS" and in the value of "MASS" you should click on the "Mass Properties" button and then select "MASS"
Save the file.
in the sheet you add an anotation and in properties dialog box (right click on the annotation) click in link value icon mark the box "External Model Reference"
and then select MASS.
You can save a template of the part format and the drawing format.
Any Doubts, just scream for help.

Just tried, It won't work as the mass properties button do not become active unless the summary window is closed.
Are you upgraded to SW2001?
What I am looking for is a variable name like `$PRPSHEET:"MASS"´ which I could type in an enjoy ;-)

I´ll try to find the API help file somewhere in the house.

Try this
"SW-Mass@archivename.SLDPRT"
"SW-SurfaceArea@archivename.SLDPRT"
if you want you can put the units
"SW-Mass@archivename.SLDPRT" Kg or g (the unit you need to configure in the archive, on the mass properties options.

I'm using SW 2001
hope this help
