Does anybody know; when using the 'Master Model' approach, if there is any way to transfer the Model itself into the file, or vice versa, so that the drawings are no longer dependant on a separate parent file. On our multi-server, multi-storage network one needs to send both the .prt file and the _dwg.prt file to the other person just so they can open and correctly view/edit the _dwg.prt file. this leads to needless duplicate files in our system. Another often occurance is that the parent file gets moved and the child file can't find it (negligence) and thus the views are no longer visible. This is a great program but little oversites and bugs like this in its production can be a major time cost and inconvenience. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am somewhat new to this particular program and still have alot to learn apparently. Thank you.

I'm not aware of the ability to import the model, but there is another option to use.
In all drawing views you can turn on "Extracted edges", then the drawing only can be opened/viewed/dimensioned completely without the model. - When there is a need to edit the model and accordingly update the views, the two must be opened together.
You can set this option as a default action for future drawings thru customer defaults.
On existing drawings you need to select all views - Style- general - Extracted edges = Associative.

I think that your company should look into running UG in a managed Teamcenter environment. This would eliminate the need to copy assemblies/parts/drawings. It also give you revision control, etc...
