Hello,

I am designing mat foundation for a steel structure in chemical plant.I am achieving my required bearing capacity at a depth of 1000 mm from top of finsished floor level. The required depth of mat foundation is 1000 mm and I want to install mat foundation 1000 mm from top of finsihed floor level of paved area.I want to keep the mat foundation top level same as that of finsihed floor level of paved area around the mat foundation. So,can I install my mat foudation at this depth. The site is in gulf region and there is no problem of frost heaving. The rain water drainage is perfect around my mat foundation.I need to provide the top and bottom reinforcement in my mat foundation. That is why,I am not expecting any cracks on the top surface of concrte, due to thermal expansion and contraction of concrete .Although, top surface would be exposed to sever hot weather. Please advise me,do I need to carry out any thermal analysis of my mat or any otner factor which I am missing in my design.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
