Hello all:

I was curious as to how others in the industry match up different ILI runs? We have historically used different tool vendors and pigged every 5 years, and I have noticed significant differences in their respective data. The odometer readings and x,y can be completely different. Is there a specific software that is preferred? Welds can change if pipe is replaced and it seems to me that there is no constant that could easily be used to match up the data, especially considering the differences between tool vendors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most ILI vendors have software to do this, and will do it even with other vendors logs if you send the pipe tally. The main way is to compare joint lengths (i.e find shorter ones and start counting from there). Also, use valves, tees, casings, etc. as line up points to state the obvious. I don't know of any off the shelf software you can buy, but many integrity solution software companies have developed this as well.
