What I im looking for is a material with the following properties:
High density (>8.4 g/cm^3), Low permability (<1.02), easily machined and good weldability. I do of course also search the internet, Matweb etc. and have found some interesting alternatives, but I thought it might be worth to ask if someone here have a suggestion as well.

Do you have product form limitations (bar, sheet, casting, etc.)? Is cost a limitation? What will the item need to be joined to? Can brazing be substituted for welding? What type of welding process is currently being used/envisioned?

Well, strength is not that important, say above 400-500 MPa in ultimate strenght.
Cost of the material itself is not really of importancy, no limitations there.
About delivery shapes; Bars of about 20-50 mm.

A copper alloy will be the most available and cheapest.

Cory

I was thinking along the same lines as CoryPad. There are many different free-machining bronzes, etc. that would probably meet your requirements.

Don't forget about weldability! If brazing is an option, so be it.

Yes, to much copper impairs the weldability I belive.
