Material Analysis?

Hi all, my company asked me to research equipment used in metal material analysis. We like to be able to check material compositions in-house. I know that most equipment like this is specialized however I don't even know where to start. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Please feel free to ask questions, at this point I'm not sure how to even pose the questions I have.

If you are looking at quantitative compositional analysis, you are probably interested in optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and/or induction coupled plasma (ICP), as well as a carbon/sulfur analyzer (Leco). These are done with samples in a lab. A portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer can be used (such as those from Niton) if your primary purpose is to identify the alloy on the floor of your shop, but these cannot be used to verify composition is within specification because of the semi-quantitative nature of the test.
 
What types of materials/alloys are you wanting to analyze?
How good of results do you need? (certification quality or just verification?)
What is the budget? ($50K or $500k?)
