Material Distribution Table in Explicit

Good morning,

I'd like to apply a distribution table to an isotropic material. Then I could set the youngs modulus & density to whatever I wanted for each element. It seams like explicit does not support this. I'm not sure why but I'd like to do it anyway. My first idea would be to create a material card for each element and give each element it's own material and section. Is there any features in Abaqus explicit that I might be able to use to support something like this?

Regards,
Peter

Did you try defining distribution table with material behavior in Explicit despite the documentation states it won’t work ? I don’t see a reason for this limitation too. Maybe if you do it using INP directly (without CAE) it will work. If you get some error messages regarding this input then please cite them here.

To bypass this potential limitation you can simply define several Elsets containing selected elements and assign separate sections with different materials to them. It should be possible to automatize the whole process. Just be aware that it may slow down the analysis.

Maybe it’s also possible with the help of subroutine.
