I am in need of info on EN 10297-E470 material and a cross over to a US spec. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

Mike,

EN 10297 is a specification for seamless tubes. ASTM A 519 is the US equivalent. Grade E470 is a high Mn steel with a specified V content, and relatively high strength (yield = 470 MPa min, UTS = 650 MPa min, El = 17% min). There is no exact equivalent in A 519, but grade 1518 is close. I suggest you specify 15V18 according to ASTM A 519 with the following additional details:

V = 0.08-0.15
Nb = 0.07 max
Al = 0.01 min
Yield = 470 MPa min
UTS = 650 MPa min
El = 17% min

EN 10297-1 requires E470 to be delivered in the +AR condition, which is essentially normalized without any subsequent cold working or other heat treatment.
