All,
We have once a while carbon steel vessels with 3000-6000 cycles for 25 years design life. In 4th edition of Pressure Vessel Design Manual by Dennis Moss, talks about PWHT, normalized, fine grain practice and 100% UT on base metal. (see attachment). For sure these are good to reduce residual stress and lamination with a cost. I would like to know, in your own company's pressure vessel spec, do you actually put these 4 requirements (for carbon steel) in the spec and send to vendors to bid on the project ?
