I am working on a system that will require a resistance heating element to aid in freeze protecting a seawater tank. There is no flow (static fluid). I need to slect a sheath alloy to be directly immersed in the fluid. The available materials are 316SS, 316LSS, Incoly 840, Incoloy 800, and Inconel 600. Are any of these suitable for use in a direct immersion application (I need something to last about 18 months before replacement)? Also, we are only able to mount the heating element by a 316 or 316L ss flange. Thanks!
