Hi All
Based on the FEED report the properties of produced water is Chloride 1,43,000 ppm and H2S 1000ppm. But material selected is CS with 6mm CA and Valve trim is SS316. I want to know is it possible to use SS trim with out any coating for this chloride content and for the pipe also no internal coating is mentioned for CS material.

Could you edit your post and fix the number? Is it 1.43 million ppm or 143 thousand ppm? Kind of a big difference since I don't think that 1.43 million ppm (or 1.43 kg/L = 1.43 kg/kg) is possible. If you'll fix yours I'll delete mine and we can have a conversation.

Hi
Its 143 thousand ppm. Please find the attached file for more details.

You may have pressed the submit button too quick - no file attached? Also state normal and max stream temperature and any info on dissolved O2.

A water analysis would be useful. The parameters I'm usually most interested in is pH, TDS, and sodium. 143 gm/L of Cl- is about the same as we see when Barnett wells are drilled into the Ellenburger. Nothing wrong with using carbon steel with that. The H2S could be a problem, but if the pH is high enough then is more a health hazard than a real corrosion issue. People tend to use NACE trim for anything with H2S in it, and I don't have a problem with it. The NACE elastomers are pretty bullet proof and the spec is very specific about not allowing any "yellow metal".

If you are wishing for the valve to comply with ISO 15156, then that trim material selection will not meet such a wish.

For the pipe materials ,I think the best way is have a simple test for the medium . For instance ,put a sample bar into the medium , and observe it's appearance changes .
