Is anyone familiar with CAN/CSA-G40.21. I need to know how CAN/CSA-G40.21 Grade 300W for channels, angles and plates compares to an A36 designation. Does A36 meet the CAN/CSA-G40.21 Grade 300W requirements?

I haven't the info directly with me but as I believe (if memory serves) if the service temperature is < 250ºF then the two are equivalent, afterwards A36 diverges.

300W has a higher yield (44 ksi) than SA-36 (36 ksi). In my opinion, 300W is an overall stronger material. Anywhere SA-36 material is specified, 300W is generally an acceptable substitute (not necessarily every application). However, I would not automatically accept SA-36 in lieu of 300W due to the strength differences. Both are common grades of carbon steel. I have found the 300W very commonly used in Canada and SA-36 more commonly used in the United States. Also, in addition to the strength differences, there are minor chemistry differences.
