Hi All,

I have done a cursory internet search on design properties & cost per sq ft for cross laminated timber and came up relatively dry. It is a material I haven't worked with at all (residential world woes), and have a concept house I have been working on with an architect that I think it would be great to use as a pre-sprung floor system.

No plans on this house actually being built - it is more of a pet project than anything, so don't go out of your way digging for that .pdf you know you have somewhere.

Thanks & have a good weekend all.

Call somebody like these guys: http://structurlam.com. Their sales people will fall all over themselves to help you.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Its not very cost effective. I recall it was about $12/sqft last year for a three ply product. It is great for seismic regions like Vancouver and the BC wood first initiative leads to a few more sales. Presumably the sprung floor is for dancing or ballet. I would stick to the products intended for this if you want durability.

Did some more digging and found a (highly theoretical) design reference. For anyone interested:
