What can I use to seal the edges of an aluminum honeycomb sandwich panel.

EA934NA is fairly dense and brittle.

following options are avaialble...

low-density polysulfide sealant.

my favorite...

EA956, filled with glass or phenolic microspheres. Add/mix microspheres into the E956 resin until the mixture attains a semi-stiff/sticky nature. Clean area to be filled with solvent and allow to dry under 120F--140F heat-lamp. Remove heat-lamp and immediately brush ["paint"] raw EA956 resin onto the exposed core and interior surfaces of the facings. Press the potting mixture smoothly into the core [minimize voids] and over-flow the edges. Squeegee-away the excess and allow to cure. Brush-coat exposed potting-mixture with (2) coats of primer to seal surfaces and edges.

There are other commercial potting compounds available... and other "home-brewed mixtures available... look in SRMs and other honeycomb repair manuals [IE: MIL-HDBK-337]. Regards, Wil Taylor
 
Yeah, EA934 isn't the best. On second thought we use Epocast 1617 A/B syntactic foam.

First of all, where is this panel going to be used, and will it be subject to high temperatures, or a "dirty" environment, such as a galley, which rapidly destroys composite materials? One of the sealants which I have found to work well, is flexible and very durable is General Electric RTV106 which is heat resistant, but of course, has no structural value.
