Mating arrayed components in assembly 1

First of all, I would like to thank all the people who have taken the time to reply to my posts in the last few days.

I have a thin polygonal disc (with 16 sides). I would insert this disc into an assembly. Then I need to mate another component (I will call it L-shape) on each of the 16 flat faces of the disc. All L-shape components are the same. So I figured that I can insert one L-shape into the assembly, then Component Array it. By doing this, I will get 16 instances but they wont be mated to the 16 faces of the disc. Is there a way so that I need not individually mate all of these 16 L-shapes to the 16 faces of the disc.

If you can model the faces of the polygon using a feature pattern, you can re-use this pattern in the assembly. There will be no mates required (other than mating the first piece).

How do I model the faces of a polygon using feature pattern? I only know of sketching a polygon and then extruding it.

Hopefully your polygon sketch is centered around your part origin. If so, create an axis in the part through the center of the polygon. (If the sketch is on the Front plane, create axis at intersection of Top and Side).

Then in the assembly, insert a circular component pattern of the 1st l-shape part around the polygon part's axis.
