At what point does the PDMworks system lag in proformance?

100,000 files?

1,000,000 files?

more?

How many files to you manage? How many users do you manage?

Thank you for the input.

Per the PDMWorks help file:

Maximizing Vault Performance
A large number of documents in a project degrades performance. More projects with fewer documents (fewer than 1000 or 2000 documents per project) results in better performance.

Clients can hide projects to improve performance.

If you operate over a network, network performance affects PDMWorks performance. PDMWorks cannot make a slow network faster.

____

The larger the vault to slower it will be to upgrade the files or reboot the server and rebuild the vault - I know a 10GB vault takes almost an hour to rebuild the tree.

Scott is absolutely right. Network performance and total vault size are going to be the primary culprits that slow things down.

We have over 100k files in our vault, and dozens of users. The vault size is well over 100 GB, and our tree rebuild time is just under 30 minutes.

PDMAdmin, could you please describe your setup? I'm interested in how you combined PDMWorks server with a linux fileserver.
