Good day,

Is there a recommended max speed limit for positive displacement pumps used in primary sludge application. If so what is the value? We have to frequently replace the seals of our constant speed primary sludge pumps running at 350 rpm. We have experimented with different seal material without any luck.

thanks in advance

Have you asked your pump supplier that question?
Probably slower is better in terms of friction but it will depend on the pump and seal design.
Does your pump have an external seal flushing system, that puts cleaner water onto the seal.
The other issue is whether your seal is being exposed to excessive pressure due to very high sludge viscosity? Is your primary sludge very thick?
Is this a new problem?
Is this a new installation?
