Hi All:
I've got an application requiring a relatively small flow of clean, 45 bar steam for direct addition to a process. Boiler mfgs all want to use carbon steel materials. We'll RO or demin (or both), plus boil and sparge with cryo nitrogen, but I suspect I need a deoxygenation agent in addition to this. Hydrazines are out due to process contamination concerns.
Is chemical deoxygenation overkill in this case? Project design life is < 3 yrs.
Are there any limits beyond which sulphite is not recommended as a boiler feed water deoxygenation chemical?
Must the boiler feed water be alkaline for sulphite to work properly? Do you get sulphur deposition unless the BFW is alkaline?
If I can assure myself that the feedwater and external insulation etc. are chloride free, is there any reason not to use stainless steels for this (tiny) "boiler"?
If your suggestion is to talk to Betz, Nalco etc- I've already tried, and there've been no helpful suggestions yet.
