Hi All

In what ways can you take advantage of being an Electrical PE in the U.S.? A few things come to mind

1. Job hoping until I find a better paying job. The downside is relocating.

2. Side gig. Such as becoming a stamping engineer. I've heard that there are lots of solar projects going on in California and some other states that needs PE stamp. Although, I do not know how to even begin how to get clients. Downside is potential lawsuits. I've heard that MEP projects are notorious in this regard.

Any other ideas?

This almost sounds like a question from someone who's PE license is not legitimate.

I mean, if you're a real PE, then you went to a lot of effort to get that license, and you should already know the responsibilities that go along with it. Putting your stamp on things is your assurance that you carefully vetted the design, spent the time to understand it, and know that there are no problems with it that could get someone hurt or killed. If not, then yes, you open yourself up to lawsuits.

Also, PE license is per state. Job hopping is possible among corporations that might hire you regardless of which state your PE is from, but if you want to work in a state long-term, and put your stamp on things, then you need to pursue certification in that state.

As for myself, I am not a PE. Maybe someone who is can add a better answer to your question.
