Hi all,
I am working on the design of switched reluctance motor. The attached file shows the magnetic flux density in rotor and stator as well as the B-H curve of corresponding material. The rotor and stator are in saturation region. What is the maximum allowable magnetic flux density to have good performance in long time?

For a spinning motor you are always going to have areas that are well into saturation on a regular basis. That's because the conducting area goes from a small amount (teeth moving towards each other) to a large area (teeth line up perfectly) back to a small area (teeth moving away from each other). I don't have any experience with switch reluctance motors but I know that with our universal motors a good bit of material is saturated quite a bit of the time.
