Is there a maximum length for the cord connected to piece of equipment?

Specifically we have portable (wheels attached) infrared heater, 5000 watts, 240 volt, 1 phase, 3 wire which will be plug connected. Is there a limit to the cord length?

The application is the USA. I checked the NEC 05 (the current adopted edition in MI) before posting and could not find any reference to cord length. Would you please point me to the 6' reference.

I did not say it is a NEC requirement (except for certain home appliances, where it is even less than 6 feet).

This may be a UL /ETL requirement to meet the intent of NEC. I have not typically seen factory attached cords longer than 6 feet.

Also look up uses permitted and not permitted in NEC Article 400 which will restrict how long a flex cord you can have and the requirement of marking etc.
