Maximum sizes and weights for Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

Sirs,

What are maximum sizes and weights allowable for Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers? I was searched in TEMA standards and API 660, but I only read about 100" diameter restriction. I think that up to 50 Metric Ton bundle of tubes could be pulled, but are there any formal codes, norms or standards which restrict S&T fabrication?

How big is your shop and how are you shipping it?
The largest heat exchangers (power plant steam condensers) are built on site.
I have seen high pressure feedwater heaters built 60' long and 80" dia. The tube bundle was 20T, I didn't ask what the shell weighed.
There is no real performance gain from making them bigger. You are usually better off with two or three in parallel. And that way when one is down you can continue to run at some capacity.

The biggest I've seen was over 200 ton, around 2000 tubes in the bundle, and shipped on road with a specially made 30+ axle trailer. So no, I'm not aware of any such size limitation.
