Typically it is the maximum volume of concrete that can be properly mixed in the mixer. I assume this is a stationary mixer not a transit mixer since the capacity is quite large.

You can mix any volume up to and including the maximum stated capacity.

generally speaking the capacity of a mixer in cu.m. is the quantity (in volume) of aggregates+sand+cement you can load into the mixer. The production of concrete (after compaction) is 70% of loaded volume. For example if you load 10 cu.m. of aggregates, you will produce 7 cu.m. of placed/vibrated concrete

robyengIT.....that's a bit misleading and confusing. The aggregates occupy about 70 percent of the absolute volume of each cubic meter of concrete. You still have to add the other constituents to create a concrete mix of 1 cubic meter. The capacity of the mixer is the volume of concrete, not the volume of the aggregates alone.

Looks like this. I can't quite work out how you get the concrete out...

Ron : what I wanted to say is that the capacity of the mixer ( at least here in Europe) is the volumetric capacity of the soft mix (not yet mixed). After mixing, the volume is approx 80%. After placing and vibrating, the final volume of concrete is 70% of the initial mix.
i.e. to have a final volume of vibrated concrete in place you need to mix 1.3 x final volume
