Hey guys,
I work in a facility that makes ink reservoirs for markers. Simply put, we extrude plastic around yarn. Several different plastics are used in the yarn and the wrap, but that shouldn't be relevant to my question.
We extrude our wrap pretty much the same way that drinking straws are made.
I'm curious if there is a way to measure the wall thickness of the wrap inline. Currently, we take a finished rod, slit it open, remove the yarn and use a measuring gauge to measure the wall thickness. This process can take up too much time for our operators, so I'm exploring the idea of something inline.
