Hello,

I have the following situation:

Pump Data Sheet indicates at General Notes: "Pump seal material to be PVDF".

I have no idea which part of the seal shall be in PVDF since it has many parts (o-rings, springs, rotating parts etc.)

- Liquid: Stripped Wash Water
- Service: Wash Water Circulating Pump
- Pumping Temperature: 124.8ºC
- SPGR: 0.926
- Vapor Pressure: 2.52 kgf/cm2abs
- Viscosity: 0.223 cP
- No corrosion/erosion by solids
- Non toxic / non inflammable
- Pump Suction: 1.78 kgf/cm²g and Discharge Pressure: 11.5 kgf/cm²g
- Flow: 5.1 m³

API 682 Plan 23/61 (single seal).

1) First question is above (which seal parts shall be in PVDF) ?

2) Second question is: The complete seal system (API23/61) including seal plan pipping, fittings, heat exchanger shall also be in PVDF??

Seal Manufactures (EagleBugrmann, John Crane, Flowserve etc.) are questioning me regarding to this seal material application, because they also don't know what to do.

Thanks!

Peter

I don't believe anyone will make an API seal out of PVDF.

I would assume the datasheet was referring to gaskets or o rings in the pump. Best action is to go back to whoever requested it and ask what they were looking for.
