Hello Experts,

Can any one tell me what is the relation between the Heat input, inter pass temperature and Impact strength of Stainless steel.

And more over why the Heat input has to be controlled or restricted during welding of Stainless steel??

Is there any phase diagram that i can use it for stainless steels just like Iron Carbide Diagram for Carbon Steels?

Please help me to get through this.

I assume your first "failure mechanism" related to heat input on common austenitic SS is sensitization.
You'll find a lot on google, but basically you'll lose corrosion resistance when SS is held too long in a certain temperature range.
That's where I'd start.

If you want more detailed information, you're going to have to provide some more details. Duplex is a whole different league of working with than 304/316. Lots of potential problems with stainless steel, too much to just start answering non-asked questions!
