Hi there,

I'm trying to find combustion efficiency table for medium fuel oil 180cSt. Does anyone know where can I look at?
Can I consider the particular fuel to be No 6 fuel oil as it is more common?

Here are three publications you may find helpful. HFO fuels have large variations in BTU content and makeup, so it depends on the actual analysis of the fuel oil you intend to use, how you treat it, what temperature you supply it to the engine and so on.

I don't know of a standard "table", some engine manufacturers have guides for expected differences from standard ratings per ISO 3046, usually with lots of extra notes and assumptions. But these are usually model/build specific based on factory tests and calculations.

If the 180cSt fuel you are considering using has the same properties as the standard for Number 6 FO then it may be close, really depends on what you're trying to do. Are you performing a commissioning acceptance test? Testing to meet some regulatory requirement or doing some kind of economic comparison?

I'm performing an energy audit on a boiler. Part of the audit is to identify the current combustion efficiency and how can it be improve.

Sorry, made a bad assumption, thought were wanted info in regards to engines on HFO. The ABB reference has info about boilers, the other two are not applicable.
