I am on the hunt fot a replacment controller for an existing PLC based Westinghouse Auto Transfer. The existing scheme uses three 15kV WLI Switches as a Main - Tie - Main with a preferred and alternate untility feed. The two main ssitches are fused.

The Westinghouse PLC is obsolete with no service support and we would like to replace it with a new controller.

All thoughts and comments appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

The last time that I faced a similar problem, I used a couple of phase failure/phase reversal monitors and and off the shelf relays.
Any PLC should be able to handle the logic if you provide phase loss detection externally and battery backup.
If power loss detection is built into the PLC you may have to provide those signals with additional components and provide a signal to the PLC.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply.

Rather than the roll your own approach I am looking for a replacment retrofit controller that is already preprgrammed and from a vender that can provide long term service and support.

I am looking for somthing like the Woodward DTSC 200 that can handle a utility main tie main configuration.
