As of this morning, the font changed in NX5. The File, Edit, View, etc. menus are now italicized and a little harder to read. Anyone know how/why this happened and how it can be fixed?

Did you change your Windows display poroperties? or Theme?

Nope, not at all. The only changes are in NX.

That's a new one. I'll have to check with our UI people to see if that's even possible (in the sense that a user could change it, versus it being some sort of Windows problem).

Actually I was told that we've run into this before and while we don't really know why or even how it happens, we do know what happens.

You see we use a particular Windows TrueType font for all NX dialog text and on occasion we have seen where this font gets corrupted. As I said, we don't how or why this happens, but it has happened more than once (the best guess is that some new piece of software was installed which replaced this font file with one that was trashed or something). Anyway, the name of the font is 'Lucida Sans Unicode Regular' and it can be found in the...

C:\Windows\Fonts

...folder.

So see if you can get a copy of this font file off of a system where NX looks OK and replace it and see if that fixes the problem. The reason that you might have only noticed this with NX is that it's possible that your other applications are using a different font for their menus and dialogs.

Anyway, give it a try and let me know how it came out.

Yesterday IT had said to go to Preferences --> User Interface and under the Layout tab, there's an option for Windows style. Selected was NX (Recommended). We changed it to NX with System Font and that appears to have fixed the issue. Thanks.
