Hi,
Im doing some impact analysis in Abaqus/Explicit involving double layer pipes. The pipes are modeled with a solid section at the impact area and shells for the rest of the geometry to reduce computational costs. In the resent analysis the two layers must be fully bonded/glued together and I've used the surface to surface mesh tie constraints with great results. The problem is that using this definition on the shell to shell part highly increase computational costs! Any other ideas on how to define this mechanical bond for shells? I've tried to use the Node to surface definition but i dosn't seem to work for me.
Best regards
