meshing a solidworks model into femap

I have created a solid model of a wing. It is a NACA 0012 airfoil simply extruded for a span of 10 inches and a chord of 1.5 inches. When I imported the model into FeMap as a parasolid, the results of the analysis do not seem to be correct. I believe it is because I meshed it incorrectly. I am getting a unit load deflection of 1.3 inches at the tip, when it is fully constrained at the root, wing material is carbon steel by the way. I have tried several ways to mesh the wing, and the only one that I found that works is by:

-Importing as a parasolid
-Mapped subdivisions on surface
-Hex mesh solids

I have "substituted" a rectangular solid from solidworks to see perhaps my imported wing was the problem, and with the substituted plain rectangular solid I now get a deflection of 0.11 inches. Maybe the method I am using is incorrect? Maybe FeMap is just meshing and empty shell instead of a volume? Any help is appreciated.

"Maybe FeMap is just meshing and empty shell instead of a volume?" this is most unlikely, and readily apparent ... click on an element and it'll tell you what it is, the nodes it uses, the PID, ...

but then maybe that's what you asked FeMap to do with "Mapped subdivisions on surface" ?

did you use the same material for the rectangular bar ?

The geometry is perfectly mesheable using TETRA elements, but HEX meshing requires some extra work spliting geometry in regular volumes and use meshing techniques like EXTRUSION, REVOLVING or SWEEPING. You can do this job either in your source CAD or in FEMAP, but "directly" this geometry is imposible to mesh with brick CHEXA elements.

Thanks for the help, I'm working on the mesh using tets and I'm getting around 3600 elements and 18000 nodes. The problem is that since the serrations are complex I need more mesh definition on the leading edge and less on the trailing edge, I'll keep working on it
