Meshing independently from partition regions

Hello everyone,

I am solving a problem in which i need to simulate a rectangular composite plate with a hole in it. However, one of the composite's layer is a circumferential layer which requires different orientations in each region. In order to do this specific layup I partitioned the geometry as shown in figure's top left hand corner.

The problem is that the partition used to apply the layer configuration is not the ideal to mesh the geometry, as seen in figure's bottom left hand corner. Eventhough i seeded each edge as desired it's possible to detect element distortions. The mesh i am trying to make is something like the one shown in figure's top right hand corner, derive from a partition like the one seen in figure's bottom right hand corner.

So, the question is, how is it possible to apply the layup settings in the first partition and after that mesh the geometry, using the second partition, independently from the first partition?

I tried to create Delete Mesh Associetivity from the ideal mesh and later on applying it to the geometry with the layup's partition but it says it isn't possible, so i don't think the mesh associativity is the right thing to try.

I think that it is possible to refine that first mesh and avoid distorted elements. You could try with different meshing algorithm. Is this one medial axis ?

However you can also do what you suggest. Check Virtual Topology tools available in the Mesh module for that purpose. They won't change the geometry of part instance and will let you build better mesh without unnecessary partitions.
 
Thanks for your reply. I am using structured with reduced mesh transition, which is the the method that gave me the best results.

I will take a look at virtual topology, however I would need to script this process, as I will be solving hundreds of problems like this.
 
I have just tried to use Virtual Topology and i could ignore some edges from the layup's partition, however the regions that had edges ignored lost its layup, so as it looks it's changing directly the partition itself.
