About to do some heavy wieght filtration trials for Austenitic cast iron 15-6-3 around the 1000 kg mark
using 75x75 or 100x 100 grey foseco sedex filters.

what is a appropriate kg/cm² wieght that I could use?

Got data for SGI, Grey iron, High-Chrome iron... But nothing for austentics...

Thanks in advance

Foseco should be able to provide the guidance. In the absence of any data you could conservatively use values available for Ductile iron. use multiple gating and a longer runner bar so that filling can be faster and less metal flows through each of the ingates. A non pressurised gating will be desirable.

The Foseco advise is in fact half the amount as for ductile iron. This means a max. safe trougput of 50 kg for a 75x75 and 100 kg for a 100x100 mm filter. This would mean 10 100x100 mm filters for a 1000 kg poured weight.

We use these recommendations to good satisfaction but on relatively small parts (250 kg max).
