Dear All,
For methanol chemical injection tanks, although tank operating pressure is close to atmospheric, based on your developed designs, do you foresee the requirement for nitrogen blanketing/padding of the methanol tank to prevent methanol evaporation to atmosphere due to methanol vapor pressure being very close to atmospheric pressure 0.13 barg.

can you share any typical available schemes for the methanol injection packages.

Regards,

Consensus industry opinion seems to be that N2 tank blanketing is necessary and is mandatory by some laws

The design and selection of tank roof/seal design as well as for tank normal/emergency venting design must be specifically for your grade of methanol. In other words, re-use of simple open API-650 style tanks and vents from another service is discouraged.

Tanks with IFR, N2 blanketing and purpose designed, Normal and emergency vents are the industry standard.

Have you given any thought to fire protection ?

Not only that, but it will probably be necessary to address the possibility of air ingress into the process system, particularly if there is H2S around.
