Hello all. Looking at healthcare facility power riser drawing and it states that ALL emergency feeders to be MI cable. This does not seem correct as usually it's only fire pump. There is a generator and ATS's. Job is in NYC. Any thoughts about the note saying all EM feeders to be MI? Thank you

Possibly the designer doesn't want a fire on the second floor to take out the emergency power to the floors above.
MI will provide service until the copper melts.

What's not correct about it? It it allowed by the NEC, and was specified. If it was bid and a contract signed, then the owner has already paid for it essentially. My thoughts are that perhaps someone missed this requirement when the project was bid and did not correctly price the circuits requiring MI cable.

Also, NYC has some unique requirements. Regardless if it was specified, I don't see an issue. Building codes are not design guides.
