Friends, what's the best to confirm bacterial (microbial) corrosion? We have a specific case of perforations identified on corrosion coupon at the receiver end of Oil line. As we are suspecting MIC, what would be the best option to confirm that, other than taking the sample for micro-analytical studies.

To confirm MIC the samples must be examined at higher magnfications, usually with a Scanning Electron Microscope.

You need to look very carefully at your corrosion. Before you start testing for MIC make sure that you have ruled out all other mechanisms. You will find microbes if you look, always. You can only blame them if no other mechaism is possible.
