Dear Sirs,

We have at our plant (Petrochemical) almost 30 Micromotion Massflowmeters ranging from 1/4" (D-006) to 3" (DS-300), most of them bought and installed in 1992.

They have been working pretty well since then, but recently they have presented a recurrent problem (RFT-9712 transmitter board malfunction) and Emerson in Brazil answered me that they do not have more spare parts for this generation transmitters to supply. Their recommendation, therefore, has been to replace the entire flowmeter by a new one. From this answer on, we have been trying to fix the transmitters but we seem to be "walking in the valley of shadows".

Does anyone have similar experience with this kind of transmitter? Have anybody had a expert/company which could fix/quote this transmitters or the parts in Brazil, or even in the USA?

Thanks in advance.

They are people who will repair certain instrument boards and if I recall correctly MicroMotion boards was one of them. I try to run down some information.

Dear unclesyd,

Thank you very much for you valuable help. That´s exactly what I was looking for.

Truly Yours,

Look for additional support on the forum for Measurement & Control Instrument Engineering. Emerson can support customers with products that become obsolete. Contact the Micro Motion peddler for support. Check to see if the newer series 1000 or 2000 transmitters are suitable for your flow meters.

Dear JLSeagul,

Thank for your help. I have accepted your sugestion regarding submiting this trhread also to Measurement & Control Instrument Engineering. As a matter of fact, I have tried to start this thread there but, somehow, I did not reach sending it there, so I send it in this one (besides, I am a Chemical Engineering with post-graduation in Automation, but I still understand better Process Engineering terminology).

Concerning your recommendation to contact Emerson, it is a good idea, but I have already tried this approach and, the solution you propose (they recommended the same, unfortunatelly I can not recolect the model of new transmitter) the cost was too high. I have already received the quotation from June Company and it is much more feasable (thanks again to unclesyd).

Anyway, I do appreciate your effort in trying to help me. Thanks.

Best Regards,

LCMS.
