I am a new-graduated telecommunication engineer working in microwave waveguide field. I would like to learn as much as possible about design of microwave horn antenna: pyramidal horn, corrugated horn, broadband double ridge horn. Can You suggest me some books about this item, and some program to use for design (Matlab??).
Thank You

You need to buy "Microwave Horns and Feeds" by Olver, Charricoats, Kishk, and Shafai, IEE Electromagnetic wave series. I got mine from the IEEE Press.

Thank You for your advise. What do You think about "Electromagnetic Horn Antennas" of Love. Do You know it? Thank You again

Love is good, he's pretty famous.
The design of horns is often two steps.
1) transition from coax is usually step 1.
2) flaring of the horn is usually step 2. or vice versa.

They can be done separately, then put together.

Pyramidal horns are the easiest. If you purchase coax to waveguide transition (and alot of people make really good ones), then you only design the flared part of the horn. The analysis is not bad.

Small horn designs, use Ansofts HFSS.
Larger horn designs, use HFSS for the transition and MatLab codes for the flare.

It all depends if you are doing a high end design, or a quick design for commercial sales.
