Min distance "A" between reinforcing plate and vertical weld joint

Good day

I have a distance (A)125mm between periphery of reinforcing plate and vertical weld joint of tank.
In API 650 it shown as A=150mm (Fig. 5.6).
Can we reduce distance "A" to 125mm (with RT or PWHT)?

The distance is measured from the toe of the fillet on the reinforcing plate, so you may have less than 125 mm.

API does not have a rule that reduces "A" below 150 mm.

 

[IFRs]

If the reinforcing plate is not round, you can trim the reinforcing plate to get your weld spacing, down to the Do radius in table 5-6 (column 5).
