I need to de-water two abandoned mines and I am looking for recommendations on submersible pump sizes (kW, flow, head), brands, etc. I will attach a cross section of the mines for reference.

This looks relatively straight forward. It looks like you are dealing with only 100 metres discharge head. Check out the Flyte catalog, especially the 58HP and 140HP models. However you have to determine how you intend relocating the pumps as the water level drops. There are also major safety concerns if any of the stopes have been backfilled. You dont want to be relocating a 140HP unit twice a week.

What is the anticipated ground water inflow during dewatering ?? Do you have discharge lines in place?? What is the chemical composition of the water?? Acidic?? Contaminated with Zn or Cu etc???

If you dont have answers to these questionms , you are not ready to start selecting pumps.

Excellent, thank you for the help. I am having Grindex come check out the project today for a professional opinion. I was really after some background information so I would be more useful when they arrive and also so I am ready for curve balls if they throw them at me. Cheers and thanks again.

For work like this there is often an intake shroud on the unit that allows the water to be pulled up over the motor (cooling it) and then into the pump. This shroud extends below the motor a bit and sometimes incorporates intake screens. This is nice because as you pump material may shift and settle.
