Hello,

I saw a video clip of someone flying a remote control helicopter or quad copter over a fairly big fire and the copter suddenly lost height and fell into the fire.
Why would it do this?
Is it because of the rising air and the copter is also trying to raise itself so it becomes a dead zone?

Thank you

There are lots of possible explanations.

> Hot air is less dense than cold, so whatever lift the UAS had would have decreased
> Could have been some sort of wind shear, resulting in loss of control
> Could have been dead battery
> Could have been some sort of RF interference from the fire > UAS electronics and plastics aren't really rated for more than normal temperatures, so electronics could have failed, plastics could have melted or softened

TTFN (ta ta for now)

This is why forensic analysis is so important, one doesn't really know until the FA is done.

Good Luck,

IF a remote control heli falls into a decent size fire there will be nothing left to analyze
