Good morning Engs.,

I have a situation:

I have a double vertical drum with an internal cap, this head is the superior head of first drum and the same head is the inferior head of second drum.

I need to calculate the minimum thickness req. of the internal head, but in asme sec VIII UG 32,28, 27 is related to Presion of system: 890 Psi, and the the nominal thickness of shell is 1.375", External head is 1.3125", and the internal head is 0.750".

The material is A 515 Gr 70, S=17.500 Psi, the I.D. is 48".

Please your help, how to calculate or estimate the minimum thickness req for internal head. I attach a image.

Thank you

IMO you are in a safe situation because External head is 1.3125", and the internal head is 0.750". If the pressure is the same for both systems as you have 1.3125" you comply with both vessels.
