Hello there,

I was just curious if anyone can tell me what the standard is for a full evacuation of office building is. I have been told you have to do it every 5 years as well as annually is there anyone that can help me out, if you can tell me where to find it in the code even better.

thanks.

Strickly office use??

How many stories???

Do you happen to know what builsing and fire code the city has adopted???

more than likely you will find that yes annualy is specified but not enforced.

Yes strictly office use.

In total we have 3 towers in the same building making a total of 36 floors of people.

Not sure what fire code is the adopted one for the city.

No, the egress design does not contemplate a complete and total egress of the building. Generally the egress design is the floor of origin, floor above and floor below.

Emergency plans available to the occupants are required by the International Fire Code and NFPA 101, Life Safety Code.

Please tell me the building is protected by an automatic sprinkler system. If not, then one must dump the entire building and the egress calculations are different (and I can't remember them right now).

Yes we have an automatic sprinkler system,

and a 2 phase fire alarm system

Follow the emergency plan. It should only prescribe an evacuation as I described.

Aaah sorry i guess i should have clarified.

It isn't about how to evacuate it is more about what is the requirements as far as doing drills and "fake" full building evacuations. Do we have to do a full evacuation of the building? if we do, do we have to do it every year, every 5 years etc.
