Mirror Part & Hole Wizard Features

Hello all,
It has been a few years since this was last posted (from what I see) and I was hoping that someone may have come up with a work around.

When creating a mirrored part from an original that has hole wizard features the HW features do not have the same hole callout info as the original part (no quantity of holes, etc.) I sent in an ER back in '06 I believe about this and no change so far (not suprised).

Anyone have a fix for this other than manually changing the hole callouts to read properly?

The Eng-Tips Search function is not working correctly. It only reports up to 2007.

For more up-to-date searches, use the Google Custom Search field (top centre of page).

Check the SW Knowledge Base for possible solutions to the HW mirror problem.

If you select the checkbox for "Break link to original part" the hole callouts will work better. You will loose the association with the original part.

Thanks CBL and EEnd. I will try the "break link" and see what I get. I sent the issue to my VAR as well, and this is the response I got for it.

This is a limitation in SolidWorks at the moment. The hole callout is generated by using the information that is available in the hole feature. Since a mirror/pattern part feature does not contain any feature information which can be verified when opening the part file and observing the mirror/pattern feature content under the part FeatureManager tree, the hole callout quantity turns to be wrong.

This issue has been identified and reported to the development team on SPRs:
SPR# 224319 - No quantity appears in hole callout for the holes created using sketch pattern.
Status: Open

SPR# 184518 - Not all the information of hole wizard is shown in the hole call out of a mirrored part.
Status: Under review (Future release) 2011 a1

More updates from the VAR regarding this issue.

This means that this issue has been resolved with Alpha version 1 of Solidworks 2011. But it has not finished the quality testing for the fix. I have tested it on beta 3 of 2011 the issue was resolved there. The say it is under review until production release.
