Hello,
Here's my question:
I have an auxilary view that won't show any hidden lines even though I have it set to hidden in gray.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Lori

P.S.-I am really glad I found this site, I have found alot of answers just reading the old postings.

No clue.

What kind of part is it? If it is a casting or plastic part that has all rounded edges on it you could try right clicking in the aux view and setting the tangent edge to visable or with a font. BBJT CSWP

It is actually just a rectangular plate which happens to have a cut on an angle taken out of it.

Lori,

Tell me a few things here...

1. what version of SolidWorks are you using.
2. What Service pack.
3. How exactly did you go about creating your Aux view. (please be specific)

I will do my best to figure that out for you. Regards,

1) SolidWorks 2001 Plus
2) SP0.0
3) Base view was created via the Named View option.
Selected the angle line in that view, hit the 'Aux View' button and it flipped out the view.
4) Video Card = NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro

I think I may have had this same problem in the past, before new version and before new computer. So I am thinking it is and operator problem.

Lori,

I just follwed the procedure you described perfectly and I could not duplicate the problem,

I have the same video card that you have (nvidia quadro2 Pro). I am running Service pack 3.0 (actually the latest release is 4.1 I would suggest going to SOlidworks.com and downloading the latest service pack and installing it.

I was going to download that before but I wondered if all of the previous service packs are included with the newest or do I have to download each?

You only need one download.

The service pack, 4.1, did nothing but fix some bug in the educational copy. If you not running the educational copy I would recommend that you download SP4. We have been on SP4 for a month now and it has fixed a quite a few things. I have not found anything that it has broke.

For feature Service Packs....I have a rule, do not fix it if it is not broke. Just because a new service pack comes out does not mean you should download it. Service packs can be just as buggy as new releases. Read the maintance release notes to see if the fixes apply to you. BBJT CSWP
