I think I had the same problem as jnikolauk. The way to resolve this is to turn on layer 50 (or the default boundary line layer) in the Layer Visible In View for the PARENT view of a dependent detail, and then update both views.
This was sort-of suggested by jerry1423 but he wasn't clear about changing the visibility settings of the parent view, so i think that's where the confusion came from.
