I am kinda new to this but I am looking into ECU maps on my Mitsubshi Lancer and was wondering if anyone had some hints or places to get started. I have already started looking around diy-efi and and just generally confused on the whole process. I have a laptop with an rs232 cable, do I just plug that into my ecu and start communications with a hex editor or do I need to download the ecu info as a bin file? If so what programs are recommended?

Thanks all,
Vince

Dear Vince,

Check the following website, it gives you all you need to know to start. What year lancer are you talking about? There are lots of people working with various versions of the code for earlier generation mitsus(the eclipse, and some older lancer EVOs). One place to look for some info would be and another would be If you are talking about a newer Lancer, this info may not be 100% relevant, but its a start.
