I have not used Ansys for a while I am more of an Abaqus guy. However a supplier has provided us with a report of an analysis of their product. The analyst has reported that axisymmetric plane182 elements, with some components as non-axisymmetric plane182 with thickness option were used.
I am quite unsure about this as I know that Abaqus will not allow mixed elements of axisymmetric and plane types, and I feel that workbench will likely just write the plane strain elements as axisymmetric anyway. I have not been able to get the input file to verify.
I also think that the constuitive equations are not compatible so there is a good reason why they cannot be mixed.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
