Mixing Group31 truck battery with AGM Battery

I have a customer that is looking at using AGM batteries to run heavy equipment on their truck. The AGM batteries would be in a remote box about 20 ft from the starting batteries and connected to the starting batteries with #1 wire for charging from the truck alternator (No battery isolator). Will this work? Can you mix AGM and standard lead acid batteries like this?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
