is mixing of codes allowed for design of static equipments in petrochemical plants?

Thank's

Really not advisable unless specific design, process considerations are warranting such changes. Usually such mixing causes a lot of paperwork both for the Owner, fabricators and the AI's. Also integrity management(post construction scenarios) could become an onerous task.
A query: What equipment have design code Mix Up. If so what the codes under consideration.
Appreciate your response.
Thanks

It is common for some equipment to have additional requirements, but usually everything must meet the same base code.

hello every one,
first of all, thanks for your quick responses and clarifications.

Regarding examples requested by Mr MJCRONIN, I mean using ASME code at some extents and using AD MERKBLATTER code for earthquake design for example for vessel design.

In general, we find american and european codes for petrochemical equipments design.

It may depend on the engineering experience, the Client guidelines, as well as the local Authority requirements for the project regarding the Codes application. So, the specific equipment may be based on the most stringent requirements among the different Codes in order to be accepted by all parties.

You can certainly have multiple standards or codes that can be used in overall plant process design. This is routine. For example ASME B&PV Code, Section VIII, Div. 1 for pressure vessels which connect to piping under ASME B31.3 or Section I Power Boilers which have BEP under B31.1.
